The Olympus VS200 slide scanner was obtained through an NIH Shared Instrumentation Grant (S10OD032236) and installed in D11-35. Unassisted use can be performed following training and the instrument is available 24/7/365 to trained users. Hourly rental costs after hours are discounted 50%. Slide scanning services are available on a per-slide or per-hour cost basis. Scans can be conducted using 20x or 40x magnification in brightfield or fluorescence mode (7 filter cubes). A slide tower can hold up to 210 regular-sized slides for high-throughput scanning. Large-format slides (2″ x 3″) can also be scanned, as can extended-focus scanning of 40 μm-thick sections. Viewing and image analysis software is available on a dedicated workstation in D11-37, including Olympus viewing software and VSI image conversion to ome.tiff or other formats, 3D deconvolution, and deep neural network features. Contact us for additional information about slide scanning services and see the Fees page for current costs.
